RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – Petrobras cut its jet fuel price to distributors by about 6% in December from November, according to state-owned company data seen by Reuters.

The price of fuel was reduced by 5.79% in Paulinia (SP), by 5.83% in Duque de Caxias (RJ) and by 5.72% in Betim (MG).

The average drop for all poles was 5.81%, according to calculations by the airline association Abear. Petrobras did not report the average price of the product in the country for December.

The decline, which came after a 7.27% price increase in November, has resulted in a 49.6% increase in QAV this year, Abear said.

For the president of the association, Eduardo Sanovich, the fall in fuel prices is still not enough, so the air travel sector will continue to suffer from high prices. QAV accounts for about 40% of the airline’s total costs.

“In three years, the cost of QAV has tripled, and this affects the cost and cost of tickets,” Sanovich said.

“Fuel is still priced as if it comes from abroad, with more than 90% of this raw material produced in the country… We advocate a revision of this pricing policy so that we can restart the growth of Brazilian aviation and remain competitive in the market. domestic and international markets”.
