International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva praised on Friday, September 9, “decisive actions” taken by China to stabilize the economy. “The Chinese economy is facing complex challenges: the current COVID-19 pandemic, the pressure of real estate market difficulties and the slowdown in global demand,” said the leader at the Seventh 1+6 Roundtable.
Kristalina Georgieva congratulates the Asian country on “re-evaluating the policy towards COVID-19; ongoing support for macroeconomic policy; measures taken to overcome difficulties in the real estate sector and actions to further open up the Chinese economy and accelerate market-based structural reforms.”
“We see opportunities for more systematic engagement on debt issues in which China can play an active role. During the roundtable, we were reminded that 1.5 billion people – many of them here in China – have been lifted out of poverty thanks to an integrated global economy,” said Kristalina Georgieva.
