AOn April 1, a rocket attack took place at the Iranian Embassy in Damascus (Syria). Some high-ranking Iranian generals and members of the Revolutionary Guard were killed. Iran blames Israel for the attack and has since repeatedly threatened to retaliate.
The attack and subsequent threats represent the latest escalation in the Middle East conflict, which flared up again following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war in the Gaza Strip. Part of this also includes ongoing attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels on shipping in the Red Sea.
