Shortly before Paris Fashion Week: thieves stole about 50 Balmain dresses from the latest collection

WA few days before Paris Fashion Week, the chief designer of the French fashion house Balmain, Olivier Rousteing, said that more than 50 items were stolen from his next collection. Rousteing said on Instagram on Sunday evening that the driver responsible for transporting the clothes from the airport to Balmain’s headquarters told him and other employees that he was attacked by a “group of people” who stole the clothes and then stole them. .

Rousteing, 38, who has been Balmain’s chief designer since 2011, said the driver who was attacked was not injured. He called the attack “disrespectful” and saw it as a reminder to “never take anything for granted.”

The show of the new Balmain collection is scheduled for the evening of September 27. Rousteing explained that he and his staff will now work even harder “day and night.”

Traditional fashion house Balmain has been owned by Qatari investment fund Mayhoola since 2016. Rousteing has made his mark at Balmain over the past twelve years: borrowing from hip-hop fashion and paying close attention to diversity in his casting, he has strived to bring luxury fashion to young people and make it accessible to a wider audience. As a result, Rousteing became a celebrity himself.
