“There is no indication of a terrorist context,” a spokesman for Itzehoe prosecutors in northern Germany said yesterday, referring to a knife attack on a German regional train that killed two people and injured several on Wednesday. The alleged 33-year-old Ibrahim A., a stateless Palestinian, was arrested immediately after the incident. He is suspected of having stabbed several people on the regional express train from Kiel to Hamburg. A 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old boy died. “They knew each other,” said Schleswig-Holstein (North) Interior Minister Ms Sütterlin-Waak. Seven more people were injured, some seriously. According to the authorities, Ibrahim A. arrived in Germany in 2014. Since 2015, he has repeatedly been guilty of crimes, including violence against others. Homeless, he was released from prison in mid-January after serving his sentence for assault and battery.
