Israeli tanks surround a hospital. They demand doctors and patients to leave the center and end up firing artillery fire. We have seen it before in this war and this Monday it was the turn of the Indonesian Hospital.
According to the Al Jazeera network from sources on the ground, the most affected area is the surgical wing where 12 people have died. Scenes of panic have been experienced inside the health center. Inside the center there are more than 6,000 people, including patients, medical personnel and people seeking shelter from the attacks. They cannot leave the center because those who have tried to leave have been met with gunfire from Israeli troops.
Even before today’s attack the situation in Indonesian was critical. With capacity for 150 patients, served more than 500. They arrived dehydrated, with hypothermia and even sepsis. “Even the water they used to make their bottles was contaminated., because sanitary conditions did not exist. “This caused them to vomit and diarrhea; instead of gaining weight, they were losing it,” explains Dr. Mohamed Zaqout, general director of hospitals at the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
This Monday, 28 of those babies have crossed into Egypt in an ambulance through the Rafah crossing. Already converted into a symbol of a war that is taking its toll on children.
