NFollowing the deadly school shooting in Offenburg in November, prosecutors brought murder charges against the 15-year-old alleged perpetrator. The suspect reportedly shot and killed a classmate of the same age, prosecutors said Friday in Offenburg.
The prosecutor’s office accuses the teenager of, among other things, murder and attempted murder. The 15-year-old shot his classmate with a pistol at his school in Offenburg on November 9 last year, according to investigators. The victim died some time later in the hospital. The weapon used in the crime was purchased from the home of the suspect’s parents. The teenager also reportedly tried to set off an incendiary device in the classroom and then on the school stairs, but was unsuccessful. A 15-year-old teenager is in custody after a crime committed in November.
The prosecutor sees the quality of deceit in the murder. Authorities said the slain student was unaware of any attack. According to the prosecutor’s office, the Offenburg District Court must now decide whether to open main proceedings against the 15-year-old. According to the prosecution, if the main hearing had been scheduled, the case would have been considered in the youth chamber and behind closed doors. If convicted, the 15-year-old faces a prison sentence of six months to 10 years, according to prosecutors.
There have been repeated acts of violence in schools in Baden-Württemberg over the past few weeks. At the end of January, a student was fatally attacked with a knife in Saint-Leon-Rot in the district of Rhine-Neckar. An 18-year-old student from the same school is suspected of murdering a girl his own age with a knife. A few hours later he was arrested in Lower Saxony.
Two youths were reported to have seriously stabbed two 17-year-old children at a school in Pforzheim on Tuesday. Two students were hospitalized after the incident Tuesday afternoon, according to police and prosecutors. The suspects, aged 18 and 19, were arrested after a brief escape.
