Ukrainian woman killed: two suspects with five-week-old baby arrested

NFollowing the discovery of a dead woman in Hockenheim last week, two suspects were arrested in the Rhine-Neckar region. The 43- and 44-year-old men were fathered with the woman’s five-week-old child, police and prosecutors said Friday. They have been in custody since Thursday. She is suspected of murdering a 27-year-old woman – according to preliminary information, a Ukrainian refugee.

The five-week-old girl was not injured but was still taken to the hospital as a precaution, the prosecutor’s office said. DNA comparison showed that she was the daughter of the murdered man. The baby is now in the care of juvenile services.

The created special commission “Rampe” continues the search for the victim’s mother. The 51-year-old is considered one of the most important witnesses as she may have been the last person to have contact with her daughter. Both had disappeared and were wanted by the police. It is reported that most recently the deceased was traveling with her mother and daughter.

60 police officers are investigating the case.

A passerby discovered the dead woman last Thursday near the banks of the Rhine at the so-called NATO ramp. According to the police, she, along with her child and mother, were placed in a refugee shelter in the Rhine-Neckar region. After an autopsy, it was determined that the 27-year-old man died as a result of external violence. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office initially did not provide any information about the possible course of the crime or the possible weapon.

According to police, the area around the crime scene on the banks of the Rhine was also searched with the help of sniffer dogs in order to detect “possible means of crime.” There are currently 60 police officers working on the case. Investigators also noticed a mysterious fireplace near where the body was found. However, it was initially unclear whether this was related to the woman’s violent death.
