Ex-Chancellor of Austria: third short film

ZTwo documentaries about former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz have been the subject of talk in recent weeks – and now another will be added to the mix. Croatian director Jakov Sedlar’s film Sebastian Kurz – The Truth will be released this week, Sedlar confirmed to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Tuesday.

It competes with the film “Project Ballhausplatz”, which, according to its director Kurt Langbein, critically portrays the political career of a former ÖVP politician. Surprisingly, at the beginning of September, Sascha Köllnreitner’s second film about Kurtz was added to the long-known “Project Ballhausplatz”.

Now the third film about Sebastian Kurz’s political career, which lasted only ten years, has been released. He had to retire in 2021 due to his love affair with advertising and commissioned surveys, and now works as an entrepreneur. Producing the film was his own idea and initiative, Sedler told FAZ. He considers Kurtz a very interesting person. For example, his work against anti-Semitism is little known.

The budget is approximately 350,000 euros. The film will be released in German and English. The Austrian journalist Judith Grohmann is responsible for the script. She is the author of a book about Sebastian Kurz, which was published in 2019 as an “authorized biography”. Sedlar says he has made more than 40 documentaries, most recently about former Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. They were sometimes controversial, with critics calling the films nationalistic and tendentious.
