Bundesliga 2: Darmstadt secure top spot

DAfter three games without a win, Darmstadt once again celebrated the achievement and defended their lead in the table in the 25th round of the 2nd Bundesliga. The Lilies defeated 1. FC Kaiserslautern 2:0 (2:0) on Saturday night. Swiss-Serbian winter player Filip Stoilkovic scored two goals in the 36th and 43rd minutes. In front of 17,650 spectators in the sold-out Böllenfalltor, FCK coach Dirk Schuster, who once promoted from 3rd to 1st league with Darmstadt, endured a bitter evening at his old job.

Südhessen are now two points ahead of Heidenheim and three points ahead of Hamburg. FCK is already ten points behind HSV after the newly promoted side have only four points in their last six games.

Coach Torsten Lieberknecht’s team got off to a rocky start as usual. FCK was unlucky enough to concede their first goal as Stoilkovic’s header was saved by Hendrik Zuck. In addition, in the 24th minute, Marlon Ritter shot wide of the Darmstadt goal. After a long pass from Filip Titsa, Stoilkovic made it 2-0 just before the break. Tietz almost made the score 3-0 immediately after the substitution. Nevertheless, the hosts no longer had to fear for the victory over the harmless Lauterer. Fabio Torsiello hit the post for the lilies in stoppage time.
