MI am doing well in the world as a national volleyball player – there is no doubt about that. Ottawa, Rotterdam and Anaheim were stops for the German team in the Nations League this summer. First in early June, four games in five days in Canada, then in mid-June, four games in five days in the Netherlands. Finally four more matches over five days in early July in California. There were more intercontinental flights (four) than German victories (three) in the balance, but the League of Nations was also about learning. Poland won the final against the USA.
Then, in early September, a fresh start at the European Championships: five preliminary round games over six days in Italy, then reaching the round of 16 against the Netherlands. Although the Germans were still unhappy with the drop in performance, Poland won the final against Italy. But this was far from the end of the summer journey.
